“My work is rooted in instrument making. After years of repairing, studying and eventually building complete saxophones, I gradually chose to concentrate on the neck. What appears to be a simple part of the saxophone became the focus of my work, as I discovered how strongly it shapes the instrument as a whole.

I build each Heidinga saxophone neck individually in my workshop in Amsterdam. I have specifically developed the designs, tools and processes for this work. Rather than creating different models or variations, I focused on developing one alto and one tenor design that works across different styles, searching for the same qualities that first fascinated me in the exceptional vintage instruments.”
